Charlotte Tickets - December Brings Top Sports to Charlotte by Brent Warnken

Think holiday festivities are the only events to keep you entertained in late December? Well, if you are in Charlotte, think again. Charlotte boasts some of the best sporting events in the entire nation, and December is going to be a month ripe with top-notch action. No matter whether you love pro football, pro basketball or collegiate sports, Charlotte has something for every sports nut. These events are sure to be top sellers, and you can get all of your Charlotte tickets online.

On Dec. 20, the Carolina Panthers will host the Minnesota Vikings at the Bank of America Stadium in what is sure to be a heated matchup. In a classic battle of NFC South versus NFC North, the Panthers and Vikings will be fighting for bragging rights. This season, the Carolina Panthers are led by a group of familiar faces on offense like quarterback Jake Delhomme and wide receivers Muhsin Muhammad and Steve Smith. The defense is led by Pro Bowl defensive end Julius Peppers and Pro Bowl middle linebacker Jon Beason.

To overtake the Vikings, the Panthers will have to excel at every aspect of the game. On the offensive side of the ball, the Vikings have weapons like running back Adrian Peterson and wide receivers Bernard Berrian and Sidney Rice. Of course, the biggest threat on offense is quarterback Brett Favre, who they added during the offseason. The defense is equally as tough, with tackles Pat and Kevin Williams as well as defensive end Jared Allen. The Panthers' offensive line will have to hold strong to protect Delhomme against these Vikings' threats, and it is sure to be an exciting matchup.

The Bank of America Stadium proves yet again it is the best place for football action this winter when it features the Meineke Car Care Bowl on Dec. 26. This bowl game is sure to bring together two must-see teams, as it features a team from the Big East Conference taking on a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The action at the Meineke Car Care Bowl first started in 2002, and the excitement has only been growing since. If last year's game is any indication, this year's Meineke Car Care Bowl will feature two well-matched teams. At the 2008 Meineke Car Care Bowl, West Virginia narrowly topped North Carolina 31-30.

On Dec. 22, the sports action in Charlotte moves to the Time Warner Cable Arena when the Charlotte Bobcats take on the Detroit Pistons. The teams faced each other earlier in the season, playing on Nov. 11 in Detroit. In that game, home-court advantage worked in favor of the Pistons and gave them a 98-75 win.

This time, Charlotte gets to host and will undoubtedly be out for revenge. To overcome the Pistons, the Bobcats will have to contain Detroit stars like Ben Gordon and Ben Wallace. Of course, the Bobcats have weapons of their own like Gerald Wallace and Raymond Felton. With games like these headed to town, Charlotte will show sports fans why it earned the nickname "The Queen City."
